NCCEFT Day-long Training

Keeping Our Balance as We Access and Work More Deeply with Emotions in EFT

Presented by:

Rebecca Jorgensen, PhD, Certified EFT Trainer and Supervisor

SUBJECT: Balancing ourselves as therapists is a critical component of the steps and stages of EFT as we work to co-regulate our couples, bring more awareness to their bodily responses and expand their depth of experiencing. This can be a tricky balancing act when our Withdrawers and Pursuers utilize such different coping skills to manage their attachment threats! As we work to help couples learn to feel more deeply and respond across the course of treatment, we are often faced with challenges as we begin to access, heighten, and deepen those newfound emotions. This day-long training is designed to help you become more balanced and confident in utilizing EFT as you learn to access and expand working with deeper and more complex emotions with your couples.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Participants will:
A) Learning goal 1. Identify 3 steps to expanding deeper emotion with Pursuers and Withdrawers.
B) Learning goal 2. Develop skills in overcoming blocks and impasses when working with intellectual and/or defensive withdrawers.
C) Learning goal 3. Learn 2 key questions to ask that can boost your traction.
D) Learning goal 4. Practice through role-plays with other participants how to utilize "appraisal and bodily response" elements of emotion to reliably move out of content and into emotion.

E) Learning goal 5. Identify and discuss ways to help withdrawers access, experience, and express their feelings safely and effectively.

F) Learning goal 6. Describe how, with transparency and vulnerability, therapists can bring their "best self" into they therapeutic process of deepening emotions.
