The EFT Tango Map

Presented by:
Sarah Ackerman, MFT, Certified EFT Therapist
and Annette Holloway, PsyD

SUBJECT:

In the 2012 Trainer Talk on EFT Basics Sue Johnson, EdD succinctly described the 5 basic moves that the EFT clinician uses repeatedly throughout the steps and stages of EFT Couple Therapy. She named this process The EFT Tango. After consulting with Dr. Johnson, Certified EFT Trainer Rebecca Jorgensen, PhD began teaching these moves and wrote an article about them for the ICEEFT newsletter. Since 2013 The EFT Tango has been presented at all Externships. Briefly put, these 5 moves consist of reflecting present process, exploring primary emotions, setting up and passing the enactment, processing the enactment, and tying the bow (or reflecting the new understanding the couple has discovered).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
a) Participants will learn the 5 moves that make up the EFT Tango

b) Participants will practice moving from intra-psychic to inter-psychic processing and back using the EFT Tango Map as a guide

c) Participants will review and practice helpful ways to approach self-supervision of taped sessions in order to track their progress in using key EFT skills and interventions
